Zhu Zhu Pets Recall? Zhu Zhu Pets Contain Toxic Chemicals? Company Says No (Video)
Is there a Zhu Zhu Pets recall? California consumer safety group Good Guide is saying that Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters may contain unsafe levels of toxic chemicals.
The Zhu Zhu Pets company, however, is saying that no… there is no Zhu Zhu Pets recall, and that the children’s toy Mr. Squiggles has been tested and is safe.
Good Guide is maintaining that Zhu Zhu hamsters tested positive for higher than acceptably safe levels of the metal antimony, as well as potentially unsafe levels of tin.
Dara O’Rourke, associate professor of environmental science at U.C. Berkeley and co-founder of goodguide.com said, “If ingested in high enough levels [it] can lead to cancer, reproductive health, and other human health hazards. If these toys aren’t even meeting the legal standards in the U.S. then I would say that it isn’t worth the risk for me to bring it into my household.”
The federal limit is 60 parts per million, but the Zhu Zhu hamsters were tested and found to have 93 parts per million in the fur, and 103 in the nose.
Zhu Zhu Pets are distributed by St. Louis company Cepia, but are manufactured in China.
Cepia has issued a statement, telling consumers that there is no Zhu Zhu Pet recall.
Cepia’s home page states: “We here at Cepia assure you that Mr. Squiggles is absolutely safe and has passed the most rigorous testing in the toy industry for consumer health and safety.”

The company who release the report actually has affilaite links on their site for buying the so called tainted products. If there so bad, why are they linking and earning money from people for the very product they claim is bad. Because it’s a great way to drive traffic to their site, that’s why and media just eats it up.
