Willie Aames Admits He Tried to Kill Himself; Aames’ Almost Suicide

Aw, this is so sad – Willie Aames has told Star magazine that he tried to kill himself on Thanksgiving Day. I can’t believe Willie Aames would consider suicide!
Sure, he’s fallen from celebrity status, but Willie Aames had a good run on “Eight is Enough” and “Charles in Charge” – heck, he even got some exposure with Celebrity Fit Club.
Aames tells Star magazine that a doctor told him “Most people [wind up in a psychiatric ward] because they’d either lost a job, a family member or relocated.” He admits he was “there for of all those.”
Sadly, Willie Aames had a string of bad events – first, he declared bankruptcy, his car was reposessed, and his wife of 22 years left him.
Willie Aames recounts the suicide incident, saying, “I stole a bottle of Jack Daniel’s from the guy I was renting the room from. I’d been sober for 20 years when I took that first drink… It got so bad, I put a knife to my throat and cut myself in six places.”
