When word of Jamie Lynn Spears’ pregnancy broke, we discovered that 19-year-old Casey Aldridge is the father. This led many to wonder if he would be subject to any criminal statutory rape charges for having sex with a minor.

Since laws vary depending on the state, and it’s unclear where the sexual intercourse took place and his age at the time – he could face charges. If Casey Aldridge was 19 at the time and it took place in Louisiana, he could be charged with “felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile” (defined as “sexual intercourse with consent between someone age 19 or older and someone between age 12 and 17.”).

If Casey Aldridge was under 19, he may face a misdemeanor charge.
