Despite denying the rumors of an affair with Rielle Hunter, former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards has finally admitted that he cheated on wife Elizabeth Edwards.

John Edwards told ABC’s Nightline in an interview that he repeatedly lied about having an affair.

John Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth Edwards, is battling terminal cancer. John Edwards says that the affair with Rielle Hunter happened while Elizabeth’s cancer was in remission – and he didn’t love the other woman.

Uh. How does that make the fact that he cheated on his wife any better?

Who is Rielle Hunter? Rielle Hunter is a 44-year-old videographer. She has a baby girl, Frances Quinn, who John Edwards is rumored to be the father of. He’s not admitting to that one, however.

Further unraveling the mystery of who is Rielle Hunter – she has lived under assumed names in expensive homes in North Carolina and California. John Edwards, naturally, is denying that he paid her any money to keep their affair hush.

Rielle Hunter and John Edwards met in 2006 at a New York City bar. She also received $114,000 from his political action committee to produce Web site documentaries for his campaign. Rielle Hunter traveled around the U.S. and Africa with John Edwards to work on the documentaries.

It’s being reported that Elizabeth Edwards knew about the affair with Rielle Hunter in 2006.
