US Airways Plane Crashed Into Hudson River After Birds Disable Engines (Video)
A US Airways plane crashed into the Hudson River this afternoon after birds disabled the engines. The video clip above shows the plane in the Hudson with passengers being rescued by nearby Ferry boats.
At least one engine reportedly caught fire, while other reports said that two engines were disabled. All 148 passengers and 5 crew members safely got off the plane.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown said that US Airways Flight 1549 took off from LaGuardia Airport enroute to Charlotte, N.C. The crash occurred in the river near 48th Street in midtown Manhattan.
