Ty Smalley is the 11-year-old boy who committed suicide earlier this year after being bullied – his dad, Kirk Smalley, is making it his mission to fight bullying and protect other children from this growing problem.

Watch Ty Smalley’s father in this CNN “American Morning” video clip, where he talks more about how his son was bullied for two years, “being picked on” and called names because he was small for his age. Ty Smalley got shoved and pushed a lot by bullies and when his parents told the school principal they were told that “boys will be boys” and “it will be looked into.”

Sadly, Ty Smalley committed suicide after he was suspended from school for defending himself against a bully.

His dad, Kirk Smalley, says he holds himself completely responsible for his son’s safety and spoke about how he promised
Ty on Father’s Day, “I will do everything I can possibly do to stop bullying dead in its tracks.”

Smalley is doing his part to “continue to fight for the kids that are being picked on.”
