Parents can breathe a little easier now that Nickelodeon and Mattel have released a picture of the tween Dora the Explorer – thankfully, she’s not a carbon copy of the sexed up Bratz dolls, as many had feared. Oh – and the new tween Dora line of dolls will not be replacing the preschool Dora the Explorer, rather, the line of Dora’s Explorer Girls will be targeted to girls ages 5-8.

The previous silhouette photo of the tween Dora led many to believe the doll line would be overly sexy, but Mattel and Nickelodeon are assuring parents that Dora’s Explorer Girls “offer an alternative to moms who want their daughters to stay little girls, a little longer.”

The tween Dora dolls also come with a USB port and are compatible with online story lines – adventures involving the environment and social action.
