7 Reasons to Watch Heroes Season 2 (Includes Spoilers)

September 21st, 2007 · 19 Comments · Tagged as Heroes · TV

So the Heroes season 1 finale wasn’t that great. Does that mean you should skip Heroes season 2? Nope. Remember most of the other episodes were great. With that in mind, here are 7 reasons to continue watching Heroes this fall.

1. A New Villain More Powerful Than Sylar

Sylar was the most powerful villain on TV this year. But there’s a new villain that, in Molly’s words, is “a lot worse.”

2. Hiro Gets A New Love Interest

Hiro and Charlie

Remember Charlie? Hiro won her heart while trying to save her. But he couldn’t control his powers and Sylar got a hold of her brain. Sad, sad tale.

Hiro finds another woman to love in season 2. She’s a beauty too. A Japanese princess from 1671.

Japanese princess

Will he get the princess like Super Mario? We’ll have to see. I have faith in Hiro’s skills. Plus, women love geeks.

3. Shorter Breaks

Heroes producer, Greg Beeman, says Heroes will “run 11 episodes in a row, take only 4 weeks off, run 7 in a row, take only 3 weeks off and then finish the season with a final run of 6 episodes.”

No more 6 week breaks like in season 1.

4. “Claire Bear” (Hayden Panettiere)

Hayden Panettiere

Hayden is one of best young actresses today. And she’s back as Claire living a new life in southern California. She’s beautiful and single. And she just turned 18, so you guys won’t feel weird staring at her.

5. Time Travel

Five Years Gone

Remember Five Years Gone? Time travel made that one of the best episodes. Because of time-traveling Hiro, Heroes can take us to different settings without unnatural breaks in the plot.

Hiro in 1671 Japan

After season 1, we got a sneak preview of where Hiro ended up. He teleported himself to 1671 in Japan. This begs a couple questions. How will he get back to the present? What will he do in the past to change the future? It will be interesting to see how Hiro’s 17th century excursion will relate to the events in the present.

No other show will have an opening episode with scenes from the 17th century and the present time. Not only that, the heroes in both time periods will somehow connect to each other in the future.

6. New Heroes with New Powers

There will be at least 6 new Heroes. The Heroes staff has done a fairly good job keeping their new powers under wraps.

Maya and Alejandro

Maya and Alejandro are twins. They’re beginning to discover their own powers (pdf file).

Takezo Kensei and Hiro

Takezo Kensei is English!? Also, he’s not heroic like the Takezo Hiro had read about as a child. In fact, Takezo is corrupt. I bet he’ll turn good by hanging out with Hiro.

Monica

From TV Guide, Monica is “an avenging angel intent on bringing justice to the corruption-plagued Big Easy.” Sounds like this girl has a badass power. She is also Micah’s second cousin.

West

I wrote that Claire was single. Well, she won’t be very long. West will win her heart. And he’s like her biological dad. He can fly.

“Two flying man!”

elle.jpg

Kristen Bell, the pretty investigator of Veronica Mars, joins Heroes as Elle. She’ll first appear in episode 5. Her power has to do with electricity. A lady that can provide some sparks. Sexy.

7. Cliffhangers Will Be Resolved

What happened to Nathan and Peter? Is Sylar, Matt, and DL still alive? Is The Company still active in bagging and tagging heroes? Will we see emo Peter or badass Peter? I’m hoping for the latter.

These questions and more will be answered in season 2. The Heroes writers have done a good job answering the big plot questions in the past, so I’m sure they won’t leave us hanging in season 2.

Conclusion

Check out Heroes this Monday night, September 24. It’s gonna be another great ride.
