I was dying to know how the much rumored Tina Fey appearance on the September 13 Saturday Night Live/SNL premiere would help ratings. With the extra buzz of Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin in the opening sketch (and guest host Michael Phelps), Saturday Night Live had its best season premiere since 2001.

SNL’s Saturday premiere saw a 64 percent bump over last season’s premiere. It was also the most-watched SNL for any date since December 17, 2002.
