The Sarah Silverman Program Faces Budget Cuts; Silverman Threatens to Quit

Things are falling apart at The Sarah Silverman Program – and you can blame the economy. But will budget cuts mean the end of this Comedy Central series?
First, Sarah Silverman Show exec producers (including Silverman herself) threatened to quit after Comedy Central said the their budget would be cut by more than 20%.
There’s still no word on whether The Sarah Silverman Program will be renewed for a third season – could a cancellation be in Silverman’s future?
Budget numbers are still being crunched, but the network is hoping they can cut costs from $1.1 million an episode to $850,000 an episode.
With such dramatic cost-cutting, Silverman told the network last week that they can’t do a third season. Negotiations are under way.
