Suzanne Pleshette Dies at age 70

Suzanne Pleshette, perhaps best known for her role as Bob Newhart’s wife Emily Hartley on “The Bob Newhart Show” (and equally well known for her sultry voice), died from respiratory failure yesterday at age 70. She had chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006.
Suzanne Pleshette had a long and successful career, including the Hitchcock film “The Birds,” the Broadway play “The Miracle Worker,” and a number of television roles.
Suzanne Pleshette reprised her role as Newhart’s wife on Bob Newhart’s second series “Newhart” in the show’s finale – making it one of the most memorable final episodes on television.
Suzanne Pleshette married actor Troy Donahue in 1964, but the couple split after less than a year. She was married to Tim Gallagher (a Texas oilman) from 1968 through 2000, when he passed away.
Suzanne Pleshette married “Newhart” actor Tom Poston in 2000; Poston passed away in April 2007.
In recent years, Suzanne Pleshette appeared on the TV again, showing up in roles on “Will & Grace” and “8 Simple Rules … For Dating My Teenage Daughter.”
