Streets of San Francisco Remake Planned for CBS

Everything old is new again – especially when it comes to TV ideas. CBS will be remaking the 1970s classic “The Streets of San Francisco,” developing an update of famed cop series that starred Michael Douglas and Karl Malden.
The show’s title will remain “The Streets of San Francisco” and the main characters’ names will be the same, as well as the location, but the story will take place in present day.
Robert Port, who is writing the pilot script with Sheldon Turner comments on the series, saying, “The times are very similar — it was the Vietnam War in the 1970s and the Iraq War now. There is the same sort of tension between generations, and we wanted to carry that to the new series.
No details on casting for The Streets of San Francisco have yet been revealed.
