Last night I could not wait to see Family Guy. After last week’s hundredth episode, where Stewie Griffin (diabolic baby) unsuccessfully tried to kill Lois (Stewie’s mother), and Peter Griffin (Stewie’s father) was blamed for Lois’ murder, before she showed up, very much alive, I was on the edge of my seat to figure out how it had all happened.

That is to say, the whole thing felt a little bit “Wizard of Oz”-esque. You know, the whole “it was all a dream” thing. In any case, the show very neatly picked up right where it left off last week, with Lois explaining where she’d been for the last year, ever since Stewie tried to kill her on the cruiseship, and pointing at Stewie, and saying “Stewie tried to kill me. He’s evil!”

While Lois takes the time to explain where she’s been, Stewie makes his escape, running straight home. When the Griffins return home, Stewie holds them at gunpoint, and forces Brian (the talking family dog) to say various awful things to the Griffin’s friend and neighbor, the cop Joe, who is actually looking for Stewie (to arrest him, obviously). Another family friend, Cleveland, comes over, and steps in, so Stewie shoots him in the heart. He then ties everyone except Brian together in the living room, and makes his getaway with Brian – whom he kidnaps to drive (he is, after all, still a baby).

In nearly no time, Stewie has completely taken over the world. By then, his family have escaped, discovered his secret lair, and have returned to a relatively normal life. But, as Stewie’s laws become worse, Lois realizes she has to kill her baby. I loved Lois’ dedication to the job, as she decked out in uber-sexy (funny how cartoons can be sexy, isn’t it) black leather, armed with various knives and guns – all from Stewie’s lair.

When Lois shows up, Stewie doesn’t plan on going down easily. The problem is, when it actually comes down to it, Lois realizes she can’t kill her baby. Unfortunately for her, Stewie still doesn’t have any problem killing her, and is getting ready to pick up where he left off, when Peter swings in through the already-broken window and kills Stewie, who lies dead on the floor of the White House, blood oozing from his body. Note: this new season of Family Guy has been very bloody and violent – more so than usual, I think. First beating up on Joe, and now… well, gun shots across the Presidential Suite as mother and son – and father – try to kill one another.

As the scene ends, the last one begins, with  Stewie behind a simulator. Shaking his head, he looks at Brian, who’s holding out a letter to him from Peter and Lois, who are gone on the cruise ship trip Brian got for Lois for her birthday. He tells Brian that he’d just simulated his plans for killing Lois and taking over the world. Without missing a beat, Brian asks, “Oh yeah? How’d that work out for you.”  Stewie, shaking his head, said, “Not so well.”

So, no dream, but a simulation. Very clever. What do you think?
