Stephen Colbert’s Portrait Painting Hangs at the Smithsonian

Oh, Stephen Colbert, let me count the ways I love you. On second thought… I don’t have the time.
But I can count this most recent event – Stephen Colbert’s portrait is now hanging in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington for a six-week showing.
Here’s the funniest thing – the museum placed Stephen Colbert’s painting right next to the bathrooms. The Smithsonian found this to be an “appropriate place.”
According to museum spokeswoman Bethany Bentley:
“We agreed to go along with the joke and hang it for a short time in between the bathrooms, Let me tell you two key things here: His portrait is not coming into the collection, and it’s not hanging permanently.”
Stephen Colbert’s portrait is actually located near the “America’s Presidents” exhibit, a fact that Stephen Colbert touted on his show, although he said the portrait was “hanging in the hall of presidents, just a few yards from the father of our country — exactly where I believe it belongs.”
