Soupy Sales Dies at Age 83; Sales Dead Following Lengthy Illness
Aww… slapstic legend Soupy Sales is dead at age 83. Sadly, Soupy Sales died last night in a New York hospice following a lengthy illness.
Soupy Sales kicked off his TV career in 1953, hosting “Lunch with Soupy,” which featured a variety of characters that Sales created. He moved into a late-night variety show “Soupy’s On,” in the 1950s in Detroit before moving on to national children’s shows.
Soupy was also a regular panelist on the game show What’s My Line?
Soupy Sales’ slapstick style made him famous for taking pies to the face, which was once estimated to be 20,000 pies!
