Legendary actor Ricardo Montalban, perhaps best known for his role on Fantasy Island, died this morning. He was 88 years old.

Ricardo Montalban’s cause of death was not so sudden – his son-in-law, Gilbert Smith, said his health had been declining for months and he died from “complications of advancing age.”

His son-in-law commented that Ricardo Montalban “was in peace” at the time of his death, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. “He will be missed,” added Smith.

Ricardo Montalban started his career in the early ’40s, acting on Broadway and in films. Montalban was well known as Roarke on Fantasy Island and as Kahn in Star Trek: The Wrath of Kahn. Montalban also starred as Grandpa Cortez in the Spy Kids movies.
