‘Rhoda’ Actor David Groh Dead at Age 68
David Groh, best known as Joe Gerard (Rhoda Morgenstern’s husband) on “Rhoda,” died Tuesday of kidney cancer. He was 68.
David Groh played husband to actress Valerie Harper on the hit Mary Tyler Moore Show spin-off “Rhoda.” On the show, the couple split during the third season.
Valerie Harper remembered David Groh fondly, saying, “I read every cute guy of a certain age in Hollywood and he was the one. … I enjoyed very much working with him. He was a lovely, lovely guy.”
Over the years, David Groh played roles on other TV shows (”General Hospital,” “Baywatch,” “Law & Order,” “The X-Files” and “Jag,” just to name a few) and appeared on Broadway. He was in the films “Get Shorty,” “Two Minute Warning” and “Broken Vow.”
