With all of the legal problems Project Runway has had this past year, it is no surprise that the finale Runway show was a little less than glamorous this year. Normally, the 3 final competitors get a chance to come out and speak before presenting their collection at Bryant Park, but due to the fact that none of the show has aired yet, producers have decided to keep the final 3 top secret. All 16 designers were required to be backstage at the competition in order to confuse onlookers as to who was presenting.

“For the contestants, it’s kind of horrible,” said Christian Siriano, Season 5 winner, before the show. He went on to say that due to the anonymity, “we’re judging just the clothes,” he said. “There’s no bias” for or against any of the contestants.

Heidi Klum made a somber announcement before the show, saying “I just want to say thank you so much to all the fans of P R. This year is going to be a little bit different for us, for all of you, for the designers backstage. They worked so hard to be here for New York Fashion Week. You know, this is their moment. And unfortunately, no one has seen the show yet, so it’s a little different.”

Ms. Klum went on to share, “Normally we have all the fans rooting for these designers every time they come out. So, I’m a little bit sad for our designers, that they don’t get that recognition today. So, please give them all a big applause today, even though you don’t know them. We are all in a bit of a limbo. And we hope that everything is sorted out very soon. You know, I am, the designers obviously, because I want all of America to see this amazing talent. They really deserve it. They worked so hard to be here today.”

No word yet on whether NBC will be airing Project Runway or if it will indeed be switching to Lifetime.
