I found the finale to be very good but very disappointing because there were too many questions/scenarios left unanswered! I really hate to think that the last thought planted in a viewer’s head regarding Violet is that she is laying there having her baby cut out of her and was that close to help! I know a finale is supposed to have a certain amount of mystery and leave you wanting more but I think this was a bit much!!!

I found it disturbing; extremely so.
To end with Violet having her baby cut out of her by a mad woman is a bit much and WAY over the top.
Final mystery would have been better as a will they/won’t they get married.
Basically I hated it; and I’m a fan of the show.

I agree, that is a horrifying scene to be left with.I watched the show with my 27 yr old son nd 18 yr old daughter. They both thought it was very distrurbing. We love the show but that was much more than needed. Then again, everyone will definitaly be comming back to see if Violet dies or if she is miracuously saved!! Maybe it was Genius?

Beyond disturbing. Our whole family did not sleep well last night. This scenario actually happened recently in our small town. Not a good story for television. It belonged in only a horror movie.

Holy shit!! Just finishing watching finale online, fellasleep last night, missed it! Holy crap! Katie, or whatever the mad woman patient’s name is, need to be taken out!! Unfortunately, this situation isn’t far from reality, as a young woman tried to do this recently, to someone she found online a baby present registration. She (the wacky woman) showed up, claiming to have gifts that were incorrectly delivered to her. When the pregnant mom wouldn’t let her in, (she was suspcious), the wacky woman, tried to barge in to pregnant mom’s house.
Pregnant mom fought her off with the same knife that was going to be used to slice the baby out of her womb, killing her assailant.
I thought it was a great season finale, maybe too damn realistic. Dell needs to have his child’s mother locked up for child neglect, and Violet will survive, the baby will probably be Sheldon’s and Cooper will dump Charlotte.

I can not believe this finale. It was disturbing to watch and even worse to think they didn’t make the finally being how the daddy is and mom and babe are safe. I don’t even watch movies that show that kind of content. It should be a choice to be subject to that kind of vilance on a woman. I feel they took this subject line to far.

Very disturbing, I turned it off. Really bothers me that this nut explains that she got all her information meds and surgical tools on line. I honestly will never watch again.

I am seven months pregnant and am really freaked out after the finale. I didn’t like the show at first, but got into it for the Violet/Baby storyline. I was so happy when she and Pete finally got together, and thought all would be well. I thought the crazy girl might kidnap Violet, but to sit there and watch as Violet had to talk her through the horrible cutting was too much. It was just heart breaking to hear her acknowledge that she knew she would die but that she wanted to save the baby…it’s a pregnant woman’s worst nightmare. I will have to watch next season to see what happens, but just think even if she makes it out and the baby is fine, Violet, just finally HAPPY, will be so messed up. Its sad that they are taking her character to that point. Can’t tell if its genius or sick.

Private Practice, shame on you. I, like some other readers here, did not sleep well after watching that ‘Misery’-like episode. This is family television, not horror. I’m a big fan of the show, but now may not be able to watch it anymore, especially at night, if they’re going to pull that kind of stuff.

It was too much. I’m disappointed in the writers. There’s so much violence on TV right now – I’m just tired of it all (CSI, Law and Order, Criminal Intent – I’m sick of them). This was a feel-good show. I’ve had bad dreams ever since watching it. The writers better come up with a redeeming season opener or I’m gone. My group of friends watching we’re sickened – especially my pregnant girlfriend. Things are starting to change in our society – how about some TV that reflects a shift from doom and gloom and killing….

I echo the sentiments of the rest. This episode was enough to make me never watch again. I can’t believe the cliffhanger made it past the creative team. Anyone who thinks this is entertainment is sick.

A little over the top – I agree that one really upsetting thing is how Katy kept on about how easy it was to get stuff from the internet. Probably true but disturbing to think about. I also don’t like where they went with the Del character – I always liked him.

I normally watch Private Practice and enjoy it. I love to despise Charlotte, have hope for Dell, question Addison’s judgement about almost everything, and wonder about why Naomi and Sam don’t go off into the sunset. Violet and Pete need to be together for both their sakes. Seeing this finale was extremely I mean EXTREMELY disturbing. I have had 9 babies myself and couldn’t believe that Private Practice would stoop so low. To threaten Violet that way and the final scene replayed over and over for me. I did NOT sleep well as others have mentioned. Not a good theme to leave America hanging on. Too much of this is in the news on a regular basis and it is horrific to glorify it on a tv series…I felt it was too horrible to portray and I am greatly disappointed in Shonda Rimes for this choice…

The only thing that would and could be worse is having Violet die. If that happens, I am done with Private Practice…

I thought the finale was intense. It left a lot of unanswered questions, both in which are supposed to be involved in a season finale. The whole Violet/Katie thing .. I was shocked! I never thought they would do that, but it added so much suspense and intensity to the episode and hope that Violet lives, I thought it was creative to add to the show, despite how violent it may have been. With Noah & Addison, I hope they get together. They love each other, and I know it’s wrong, but it really isn’t fair to Morgan, or any of them if they don’t get together. I don’t know.. I enjoyed the finale though, and can’t wait until next season!!

My husband and I both found it disturbing. My husband was more upset that I was about that happened with Violet. He said that in a situation like that, a person can’t come back and be normal. He said if she is saved, she will never lead a normal life because something so tramatizing is very much life changing.
I just want to know why there can’t be just one happy ending in a show like have a baby and get married to a great guy and live happy and let everyone else have their issues. Is that just not possible in TV world. It’s irritating.

While it was shocking and left my heart beating fast we must remind ourselves this is JUST A TV SHOW and not reality. Might help those who are not sleeping …
