The People’s Choice Awards, while not considered a prestigious honor, do kick off the 2009 award season tonight, January 7 (9 p.m. on CBS). Queen Latifah will host the live People’s Choice Awards – and things promise to be a lot livelier than last year’s telecast.

Brad Pitt is rumored to appear in a pretaped segment, but look for Marisa Tomei, Robin Williams, Seal and Kid Rock to present. Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts will perform.

Awards season continues with the Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday and the Golden Globes on Sunday.
