And now we know why Paula Abdul has been such a loopy mess in the past – Abdul admits she had a prescription painkiller pill addiction. This Today show video clip gives the rundown of Paula Abdul’s pill problem, which she shares in the Ladies’ Home Journal June issue.
Paula Abdul checked herself into a spa last Thanksgiving and explains, “I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then chattering and in so much pain, it was excruciating. But at my very core, I did not like existing the way I had been.”
Paula Abdul’s pain medication habit came from taking painkillers to help get her through dancing injuries and a neck injury sustained in a 1993 plane crash.
In 2005, Abdul was diagnosed with reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome, which caused her a great deal of pain.
