Wow, who would’ve thought that so many people would want the chance to be Paris Hilton’s BFF? 85,000 reality show whores (really, doesn’t everyone want their 15 minutes of fame on a reality show these days?) have applied for MTV’s “I Wanna Be Paris’ New Best Friend.”

Seriously. They’re going to have to whittle that number down considerably, as “I Wanna Be Paris’ New Best Friend” is set to begin production next month.

The show’s web site, ParisBFF.com, has all of the potential candidate’s info and videos — Paris Hilton told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning that she’s already selected six, but 20 finalists will appear on the reality show.

And Paris Hilton is discriminating too, saying, “I don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl, just as long as its someone I can trust, someone I can have fun with and just someone who’s going to be able to like handle all the other things that are going to come with being my best friend.”
