Oprah Millionaire Contest Show a Scam, FBI Involved

Beware: an email circulating about an Oprah millionaire contest show is a scam – both the FBI and Oprah Winfrey show folks warn consumers not to be fooled. If you receive an email about the Oprah millionaire contest show, telling you about the chance to win a million dollars – don’t fall for it.
The FBI warns that if you receive an email about the “Oprah Millionaire Contest Show,” it is most definitely a scam.
Details of the email scam include telling the mail recipient that he/she has been nominated to be on The Oprah Winfrey Show. During the show, a million dollar winner will be named. Naturally, the bogus email includes asking the recipient for contact information, as well as asking the “nominee” to send money for travel and tickets.
A big red flag (besides the obvious of sending the Oprah show money), is that tickets to the show are free.
Oprah.com has more details about the Millionaire Contest Show email scam, warning of “sweepstakes scams” and confirming that no such show has been scheduled.
