What a novel idea! ABC is kicking it old-school with a tie-in promotion for the second season of “Castle” – releasing a mystery novel written by the show’s character, Richard Castle.

Richard Castle is a best-selling mystery author on the series, so a book tie-in makes perfect sense.

You can check out the first chapter of the novel “Heat Wave,” starting August 10 on ABC.com – a chapter a week will be posted for 10 weeks, with the full novel published September 29.

The second season premiere of Castle airs in late September.
