Nickelodeon: New Tween Dora; Dora the Explorer Grows Up

Nickelodeon’s Dora The Explorer is growing up – to a new tween version, seen in this silhouette picture. Dora’s still maintaining the giant melon of a head, but has thinned out and ditched the shorts and t-shirt.
Nickelodeon and Mattel made the announcement that the new tween Dora will hit shelves this fall. And parents aren’t too happy by the older, skanky version of their tots’ favorite explorer.
The new Dora is being compared to Barbie and (horror!) Bratz dolls. The new Dora has had some changes, moving to “the big city” and now has a “fashionable new look.”
A CNN reporter who got a look at the new Dora doll describes her as “thin” and “attractive,” with long flowing hair, a tunic, leggings and platform heels.
So, it seems Dora’s days of exploring will be behind her. But what happens to Boots??
