Looks like Disney Channel is grooming their next Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana phenom — the kids’ network has announced that Demi Lovato will star in a new comedy series called “Welcome to Mollywood.”

Demi Lovato is a rising new Disney Channel star who is about to become a household name when she co-stars with the Jonas Brothers in this summer’s Disney Channel original movie “Camp Rock.”

“Welcome to Mollywood” will star Demi Lovato, who plays Molly, “a 15-year-old small-town girl who, after a nationwide search, is chosen to join the cast of the most popular and long-running teen sketch comedy show on television. The sitcom will feature a show-within-a-show with fully produced comedy sketches.”

You may recognize Demi Lovato from Disney Channel’s five-minute comedy series “As the Bell Rings.” She’ll also be seen in the Disney movie “Princess Protection Program” and is touring with the Jonas Brothers this summer.

“Welcome to Mollywood” begins production this fall.
