NBC to Air First Ever SNL, Hosted by George Carlin as Tribute to Late Comedian

Saturday Night Live will air the first ever SNL, hosted by George Carlin, as a tribute to the late comedian. George Carlin’s appearance on SNL is what launched the successful show, paving the way for future comedic talent to grace our TV’s every Saturday night.
The very first episode of Saturday Night Live was hosted by George Carlin in 1975. Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin and Gilda Radner also appear on the first SNL, slong with comedian Andy Kaufman.
SNL creator Lorne Michaels commented on George Carlin’s contribution to Saturday Night Live, saying, “You never forget the people who were there at the beginning. George Carlin helped to give “Saturday Night Live” its start as our first host. He was gracious, fearless and most important of all, funny.”
