Stephen Colbert expected to have a NASA space station node named after him… however, it didn’t quite work out that way. Watch the video clip for last night’s Colbert Report – “Colbert” came in first in a NASA space station online naming contest and the official name was to be announced last night.
In this Colbert Report video clip, NASA astronaut Sunita Williams reveals that they will instead name a treadmill machine after Stephen Colbert.
Specifically, the machine will be called the Combined Operational Load Bearing External Resistance Treadmill (COLBERT).
NASA’s Node 3 will be named Tranquility after the Sea of Tranquility, where Apollo 11 landed on the moon.
Stephen Colbert said of the naming, “I think a treadmill is better than a node … because the node is just a box for the treadmill. Nobody says, ‘Hey, my mom bought me a Nike box.’ They want the shoes that are inside.”
