While you can’t say for sure whether or not Miss California’s Carrie Prejean would have won the Miss USA 2009 pageant if she answered Perez Hilton’s gay marriage question differently – one thing is for sure – Carrie Prejean is making headlines for her views on the gay marriage debate.

Check out Miss California Carrie Prejean in the Miss USA 2009 pageant question/answer video clip, where she addresses legalizing gay marriage, saying, “In my country, and in my family, I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.”

Carrie Prejean is sticking to her answer, however, saying: “It did cost me my crown. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that’s all I can do. It is a very touchy subject and [Hilton] is a homosexual and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.”

    What happen to free speech?
I am so sadden by the judge who spoke with such words, when he did not like the answer to his question. This is what the gay community is fighting and he has now showed he truly is a disgrace to the community!

There you have it folks. Miss USA will always be chosen on political and religious viewpoints. Forget the talent and beauty portion of the show. I applaud Carrie Prejean for standing firm to her opinion no matter what the cost. It is no longer popular being a Christian in America. This country has largely lost its moral compass. To Carrie Prejean, I say thank you and God bless you. I found your courage inspirational. America needs more people like you. It’s Perez Hilton who made a fool of himself going on an emotional tirade on the Internet and slandering her name until he was blue in the face.

It was an opinion question and she answered it, trying not to offend anyone. But she answered it as she had strong beliefs on the subject. She was true to her belief and to God. It is a very scary time in the U.S. Carrie is right and she is a role model for me. I really do not know what is going to happen to this country. I am very confused about what to do about it. But I know in God I trust.

The question was innappropriate for that forum. Carrie gave her opinion, which was totally appropriate. I applaud her example and hope many more will follow. Gay marriage proponents are not a majority as was proven by the vote on in California.

It is a sad day in America when our constitutional rights are trampled for the whole world to see.Carrie i applaud you for being true to yourself and your beleifs. In a time when people sell themselves for gain of any kind , it is refreshing to see someone give up so much for the truth. You are truly a role model for our younger generation, and a lamp to the world at large.
    best wishes,
