Former MADtv cast member and Howard Stern sidekick Artie Lange quit the Howard Stern show this morning after a heated discussion. Take a listen as everyone gets worked up (even Robin!) and Artie Lange resigns in a huff over an incident with his assistant.

Did Artie Lange really quit Howard Stern or will he be back? He did tell Howard, “I’m not a good person … I gotta leave … I love you.”

UPDATE: Well, it was a good ride while it lasted, but the powers-that-be have removed the audio clip from the Red Lasso site. Hopefully you had a chance to take a listen and we’ll know more soon about Artie Lange’s resignation from Howard Stern’s show.

Right now [11:37am pst] Sirius is playing the episode from 4/7/2008 instead of repeating today’s show [as they normally would], so this is very surreal.

He needs intense psychotherapy and rehab, and some one close to him should get him some before he kills himself… hey Howard…. how bout an intervention, i know you’re not as heartless as you sound on radio…. It would be a shame to lose this guy .. they are hard to come by. It would’nt be so bad if he just smoked pot… but heroin? The only result that comes from a good heroin addict is death.

What a shame… Artie is really melting down. Has it all… funny as heck… on the top of his game…Howard seemed really stressed. I hear the original, but hearing it again makes me realize how hardcore this fight really was.

One part of me says this might be a setup, and another part tells me it was real. I don’t know what to believe. I may think its real because they’re not airing the 4/10 episode. I may think its fake because they want the publicity for the show. The only question I have is, do they really need the publicity since Howard Stern’s show is already famous? Who knows.

Like the guy said up above “John Belushi –> John Candy –> Chris Farley –> Artie Lange.” The guy really is going to die. Everyone can see his death coming unless he goes to rehab for 6 months away from everyone.

You know all these people who comment on Artie saying “he’s a piece of $hit, who cares if something happens” are pieces of $hit themselves. No matter what you think of him, he is a guy in trouble.

If you are a regular listener of the show, over the past few months you can really hear him falling apart. I wish he would figure out that he does in fact need rehab, and intense therapy, however; like any addict he’s not going to see that. It broke my heart to hear the clips from Thursday’s show.

I’m really hoping this was all an act for the show…but listening to the audio I just don’t think so…..

Everyone has let this fat ass off the hook for everything he has done. He has not taken responsibility for his actions even once. This time will be no different. Artie will be back because artie’s gonna do what artie’s gonna do and Howard will never fire him. It seems Robin and Jason are the only ones who tell the truth about Artie on that show anymore. And not to worry, If gary takes his nose out of Arties ass long enough he will make this whole thing Teddy fault on the wrap up show. Artie can do no wrong in Garys eyes.
