Life on Mars Series Finale Leaves Fans Disappointed

While the Life on Mars cancellation was recently announced, fans of the show at least had the hope of a decent ending in the series finale, which aired April 1. But fans of Life on Mars have been pretty disappointed with how things wrapped up – as evidenced in the post-finale grumblings on blog comments and forums.
Some of the Life on Mars series finale disappointment lies with the comparison with how the original British version ended, but that aside, things took a Twilight Zone turn (spoilers ahead) in the last episode.
A quick recap of the season/series ending of Life on Mars (spoilers!!!) included astronaut Sam and the other characters waking up after two years of hibernation on a spaceship heading for Mars – in the future (2035). So, he wasn’t a cop from 2008… rather, this is the scenario that the spaceship computer used to occupy his mind during hibernation.
And the 1973 time travel was just a computer glitch. Huh?
What did you think of the Life on Mars series finale twist? Does the “it’s all a dream” plot work to wrap up the series?
