Josiah Leming Plans to Release Debut Album, May Get Sued by American Idol

Last week, former American Idol wannabe Josiah Leming announced that his album debut would be released on Warner Brothers’ Reprise Records label in January 2009. Now it turns out that American Idol folks are threatening to sue the singer.
While Josiah Leming didn’t make American Idol’s top 24, but as a contestant, he did have to sign a contract that promises to record only with Idol’s preferred label, Sony/BMG. The contract also gives American Idol producer Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment exclusive rights of refusal for management and merchandising.
Looks like Josiah Leming’s album deal may go bust because he’s in violation of the Idol contract.
Josiah Leming is appealing in the hopes that he can continue with the release of his new CD as planned.
You can listen to Josiah Leming’s songs on his MySpace page as well as check out his tour dates.

what you don’t mention is that AI and Sony both had right of first refusal and refused. That made him open to other offers….which he had plenty. The power hungry egotistical slobs at AI need to back off this kid that they used and abused to their own ends. They just caught the raw end.

Way to go, American Idol! He bit the hand that fed him without any recognition that he would be nowhere without AI, and now he wants out of his contractual obligations?
BS.
You sign a contract, you take personal responsibility for that contract.
He was a crybaby on the show and now he continues the moaning and whining. And what’s more – he is a terrible singer – kind of a cross between a teenage boy with a complete lack of subtlety and a lamb.

Though Josiah Leming was first noticed on AI he has really created a following on his own through his MySpace page and MTV interviews. AI had there chance with him and that’s that. AI, let this kid release his album already with no strings attached!
