“Dawson Creek” star Joshua Jackson (Pacey) is returning to the small screen — and in a pretty high-profile new series, courtesy of J.J. Abrams (”Alias,” “Lost,” “Cloverfield”).

Joshua Jackson will join the cast of “Fringe,” a Fox drama, playing sci-fi mystery investigator Peter Bishop. Other cast members include John Noble (”The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”), who will play Joshua Jackson’s scientist dad, and Australian actress Anna Torv, who will play an FBI agent.

If you haven’t heard much about “Fringe,” be prepared — no doubt with J.J. Abrams’ name attached and a reported $10 million budget for the two-hour pilot, there will be a lot of marketing buzz. According to Abrams, the series will have a lot of similarities to “The X-Files,” “Altered States,” and “The Twilight Zone”.
