One can barely keep up with the Jon Gosselin/Hailey Glassman rumors… and one hardly cares either. But report the news, we must!

Jon Gosselin talked to People magazine, putting to bed the rumors that Gosselin and girlfriend Hailey Glassman are engaged, as well as explaining how he enjoys spending his time with the 22-year-old:

“Hailey and I have been family friends for several years and only very recently began dating. What began as friendship has grown into something more. I genuinely enjoy spending time with her. It’s nice to be with someone who I can confide in and trust and who accepts me for who I am.”

As for the douchery that Jon Gosselin steps out with the 22-year-old this soon after the divorce announcement, he’s ready for the attention – good or bad – saying: “I know that my decision to appear publicly with Hailey this weekend will be scrutinized, but I hope that people can see I’m a regular guy who is going through a very difficult time in [my] life and wants to move forward.”

And now to put that engagement rumor to rest… Jon says, “No. We’re just having a cool time and enjoying each other.”
