Jon and Kate Plus 8 parenting tips
Since we’ve received so many comments about Jon and Kate Gosselin’s new house, I thought I’d throw out these parenting tips from Kate Gosselin to the octuplet mom.

Talk amongst yourselves.

Kate Gosselin of Jon and Kate Plus 8 offered up these parenting tips to People.com:

  • “You must have help – accept it. It can be very difficult especially for someone like myself who likes to be in total control. That will continue until your kids are grown!”
  • “Schedule, Schedule, Schedule – create a schedule very early on and stick to it. Kids like a routine, and for me it removed the guesswork. (Are kids hungry? Are they tired? etc.)”
  • “Choose your battles – let little things go! You can’t control everything.”
  • “Make every moment count – use the time you are wiping their hands and face or changing a diaper to connect.”
  • “Plan ahead – think the plan through and find pitfalls … Change accordingly.”
  • “Encourage teamwork – it gets the job done faster and more efficiently while fostering a deep family bond. (Involve kids in chores – it develops a strong work ethic.)”
  • “Save and spend smart – lots of kids means lots of saving is necessary! Use coupons, buy in bulk, watch for sales! It’s a must!!”
  • “Above all, take a few minutes for yourself … Don’t let mommy guilt get to you. Even if it’s just a 10-minute shower, which at the beginning seems like a luxury.”

Your house is gorgeous. I’m so happy for your family. For the people who criticize, ignore it completely. They must not have anything better to do but criticize other people. God bless you and your family.

How will these children ever be able to know what NORMAL is? How will they be able to handle working for what they have and not having all hand outs? When it all stops…..trips,clothes etc. wil they just feel like a washed up hasbeen child star?

I will never have but one grandchild and he is now 17 years old. I watch the Jon and Kate Show every chance I got, whether I’ve seen it or not. I think those children are just ADORABLE. Jon and Kate are raising them sooo NORMALLY, not like little soldiers, lined up for muster. As they get into school, they will begin to be individual people instead of one of six right now. I’m sure they will have chores later and will be helping Jon and Kate take care of all their own needs.

YOU GUYS keep up the good work as parents. YOU are doing a WONDERFUL JOB. I taught school for 36 years before retiring and I would enjoy having any one of your eight in my classroom.

I hope you continue with the TV show until they are grown.

    Love it!
    Grandma Barb
