Buzz that Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan got in a catfight backstage at MTV talk show Alexa Chung are not true, according to Piven’s rep.

A fight reportedly broke out between Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan after Kattan joked about Piven’s mercury poisoning and Piv’s subsequent bailing on Broadway.

Jeremy Piven’s spokesperson denied the Piven/Kattan screaming match, however, saying, “Jeremy and Chris did see each other at MTV and they were joking around backstage before a talk show appearance, as people often do. If it was interpreted as a fight, someone wasn’t paying attention, that’s all. Both gentlemen spoke on the phone yesterday, there is no issue.”

Kattan reportedly said, “So, what are you here to promote, your Broadway play?”

To which Piven sniped, “Well, what are you here to promote? Mango?” -

Piven also was quoted as shouting “I’m getting sued for that s–t It’s not funny!”
