Jennifer Hudson Says She Doesn’t Have To Thank “American Idol”

Jennifer Hudson has refused to acknowledge American Idol after winning her Best-Supporting actress Oscar.
The singer turned actress made the last 32 of the TV talent show in 2004, but ultimately failed to impress judge Simon Cowell.
But after Hudson’s success at the Academy Awards for her ‘Dreamgirls’ role Cowell commented she missed a “big opportunity” to thank the show for giving her initial exposure.

Hudson, though, couldn’t agree less, explaining, “If I’d been any better at my job when I was at Burger King in my middle teens I wouldn’t be here either, so should I thank them too?”
However, the star did mention the show when she picked up the Sammy Davis Jr award for entertainer of the year at the 21st Soul Train music awards ceremony last night.
She told the audience in Pasedena, California, “I just can’t believe I got the Sammy Davis Jr award! I’m standing on the same stage where I made the top 32 of American Idol.”
