Jay Leno Show moving to 11:35
No surprises here, but The Jay Leno Show has been canceled, according to NBC Universal TV chairman Jeff Gaspin. But it’s not going away completely – just the primetime version of the show has been axed.

Jay Leno will be moving to 11:35, bumping Tonight Show’s Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon.

Gaspin said of the move, “I can confirm that starting February 12, Jay Leno will no longer air at 10 p.m. While [Leno] was performing at acceptable levels for the network, it did not meet our affiliates’ needs, and we realized we had to make a change. My goal right now is to keep Jay, Conan [O'Brien], and Jimmy [Fallon] as part of our late-night lineup. I have spoken to all of them and proposed that The Jay Leno Show move to 11:35, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien to 12:05, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon would then start at 1:05.”

Gaspin also commented that Leno, O’Brien and Fallon were “incredibly gracious and professional” of all the late night developments. How could they not be?

NBC hopes to have everything in place before the Olympics begin, with Gaspin commenting that nothing is yet “a done deal.”

I really enjoy the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien since Jay Leno left the show. I don’t know if I completely understand the decision by NBC except that ratings must not have been as high as they should be. Thank goodness for recording options so no matter what time the Tonight Show airs, I can watch it the next morning before heading to work.
