Jay Leno’s hospital visit was the reason for Thursday’s canceled Tonight Show taping, although it’s unclear why Jay Leno went to the hospital in the first place.

Jay Leno checked himself into the hospital yesterday afternoon, with rumors swirling that the late night host was suffering from food poison. No reason has yet been given for the Jay Leno hospital treatment.

An NBC rep issued a statement that read: “A repeat of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno will air tonight as Mr. Leno is not feeling well. He took himself to the hospital because he wasn’t feeling well.”

While no Jay Leno hospital update has yet been given, it’s admirable that this is the first time Leno has had to cancel a taping of The Tonight Show in the 17 years he’s hosted.

NBC’s statement further reassured: “Jay Leno is doing just fine. He was kidding around with the hospital staff and running his monologue jokes by the doctors and nurses.”
