It’s not official but NBC is preparing for the possibility of ER’s 14th season to be its final season. As such, it is trying to bring back as many old cast members as possible.

Noah Wyle is already slated for several episodes this season, all in Chicago. Thandie Newton, Gloria Reuben, Julianna Margulies, Eriq LaSalle, William H. Macy, Sally Field, Danny Glover, Laura Innes, and Shane West are all former stars that the writers are hoping to get back throughout the possible final season.

As for George Clooney as Dr. Ross, executive producer David Zabel says:

“We’re always thinking of ways to bring Dr. Ross back on the show,” says Zabel with a laugh. “And now might be a good time, because I hear George [Clooney] needs the work.”
