Hollywood Week, Part 3 Auditions Recap: Top 24 Selected

This is their most important, make-or-break performance. Who will make it to the top 24 on American Idol? Check out this American Idol Hollywood Week recap for the play-by-play:
Ryan gives us the rundown of the American Idol wannabe’s journey from that first audition through to Hollywood Week.
71 remaining contestants give it their final audition and hope for the best.
Each audition is with a full band and the judges begin deliberation. They are split into three rooms.
We get a look at some of the auditions, including:
Angela Martin sings “American Boy.” Room 3.
Casey James, room 1 – sings “Bubbly.”
Jermaine Purifory sings “Brick House,” in room 2.
Jermaine Sellers sings “Man in the Mirror” and rips on the band about the ending… what? He’s in room 1.
Siobhan Magnus sings “Living for the City” – room 1.
Crystal Bowersox sings “If It Makes You Happy” – room 1.
Alex Lambert sings “I’m Yours” – room 1.
Big Mike Michael Lynche sings “I’m Yours,” room 1.
Todrick Hall sings “I’m Yours,” room 1.
Thaddeus Johnson sings “Man in the Mirror” – room 1.
Room 2:
Charity Vance sings “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles.
Tasha Leighton
Mary Powers sings “Hot N Cold,” Katy Perry.
Lloyd Thomas sang “Man in the Mirror.”
Bryan Walker, Tisha Holland also shown in the waiting room.
Hope Johnson sang “Home” by Daughtry.
Room 3:
Shelby Dressel sang “More Than a Feeling.”
Aaron Kelly sang “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan and ooh, forgot the words.
Ashley Rodriguez sang “Battlefield” by Jordin Sparks.
Lee Dewyze sings “You Found Me” by The Fray.
Joe Munoz sings “Man in the Mirror.”
Haeley Vaughn sang “I’m Yours.”
Janell Wheeler sang “Love Story,” by Taylor Swift.
And now… the judges visit each room for the verdict:
Room 1
A few more auditions: Tori Kelly sang “Hot N Cold”, Lilly Scott, Andrew Garcia sang “Chasing Pavements” …
They make it through!
Room 1 also includes Tyler Grady, Katie Stevens.
Room 2
They don’t make it through… lots of tears.
Mary Powers, Charity Vance, Bryan Walker, Christian Spear, Hope Johnson, Lloyd Thomas don’t make the cut.
Room 3
You know what that means – room 3 is through, including Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Angela Martin, Shelby Dressel, Jessica Furney.
And now… we get a look at some of the top 24 selected by the American Idol judges, who get the news at the Kodak Theater where they performed.
Michael Lynche “Big Mike” – makes it through.
Didi Benami – sang “Angel” during her final audition. Simon says she’s not the most consistent, but she makes it through!!
Katelyn Epperly – sang “Bubbly” for her final audition. Ellen plays a fun game of delaying the news before telling her yes, she’s made it through to the final 24.
Shelby Dressel – she doesn’t make it through, though Randy Jackson says she showed a lot of growth and encouraged her to try again.
Casey James – makes the top 24.
Aaron Kelly – we’re shown his audition ups and downs before he sits before the judges for the final word: yes, he makes it through.
Lee Dewyze – made it to the final 24.
Todrick Hall – makes it!
Jessica Furney – she was rejected in season 8… and didn’t make it again. Lots of begging, but a no is no when it comes to filling those top 24 spots.
Seven of the top 24 were revealed tonight… we find out the rest tomorrow.
