Golden Girls’ Bea Arthur Dead at Age 86, Following Cancer Battle

Wow. It’s always hard to report on the death of a legend… Golden Girls’ star Bea Arthur is dead at age 86, passing away this morning at her Brentwood, California home after a battle with cancer.
Of course, Bea Arthur was more than just the star of The Golden Girls – she starred on Broadway, as well as in the 1970s series Maude.
A spokesman for Beatrice Arthur’s family said that she died peacefully with family by her side.
Bea Arthur starred on Maude from 1972 until 1978, a spin-off of All in the Family. Arthur starred as Dorothy Zbornak on The Golden Girls from 1985 to 1992, alongside Estelle Getty (who died last July), Rue McClanahan and Betty White.
