No doubt tonight’s American Idol finale will be a big deal… but if the rumor that George Michael is performing is true, it could be even more entertaining.

Producer Nigel Lythgoe dropped a hint earlier this week that the “biggest star in the world” was coming to American Idol’s finale. I’m not sure that George Michael qualifies as the biggest star in the world, but he’s no slouch either.

E! Online is reporting that their source has exclusively revealed that George Michael will perform on the American Idol finale tonight, May 21.

George Michael is set to begin a 20 city tour on June 17 and has a new two-disc CD, “Twenty-Five.”

While George Michael has not been confirmed for the American Idol finale, Carrie Underwood and the Jonas Brothers are definitely set to appear.
