There’s a long wait ahead for Rescue Me fans - but FX has a solution to keep everyone sorta happy during their 19 months (!) off the air - “minisodes,” or five-minute Rescue Me segments that will air Tuesdays at 10 ET/PT beginning June 24.
New full-length episodes of Rescue Me, starring Denis Leary, will begin in April 2009 - the last one aired in September 2007!
According to writer/producer Peter Tolan, “You’re looking at 19 months off the air, which is technically cancellation, I believe. We felt there was some risk there, and the best way to hedge our bets is to give us some face time with our audience so they don’t drift away.”
So, what will the Rescue Me minisodes be about? They don’t tie in with the new season, but offer up some funny moments.
Denis Leary hinted at one: “One involves a flashback that explains something that goes all the way back to the beginning of the series, and another is a dream sequence tied into Tommy’s psyche. It starts out as a really sexy dream and ends up as a nightmare.”
The Rescue Me minisodes will also be available at YouTube, Hulu and Crackle.
