Fran Drescher for Senate? Drescher Wants to Replace Senator Hillary Clinton

Fran Drescher, best known for her role on the series The Nanny, wants to be appointed to the U.S. Senate seat that Hillary Clinton will vacate now that she’s been named secretary of state.
According to Drescher’s spokesperson: “Fran Drescher, actress, women’s health advocate and public diplomacy envoy for the U.S. State Department, announced that she is throwing her hat into the ring of contenders for the senate seat being vacated by Secretary of State-designate Hillary Rodham Clinton.”
New York Gov. David Paterson is seeking an interim person to fill the remaining two years of Clinton’s term.
Fran Drescher had this to say about her aspirations to be a senator: “I’m a New Yorker. It’s a part of the fabric of my being. It just seems natural to me to throw my hat in the ring.”
