Federal Way, Washington Refuses To Hold “Sanjaya Malakar Day”

Federal Way, Washington has “more important things to do” than hold a day honoring their hometown “American Idol” finalist.
Fellow Washington state American Idol finalist Blake Lewis has been recognized with his own day by his home city of Bothell. The proclamation designated April 11 as Blake Lewis Day. But Federal Way officials say there will be no day off for Sanjaya.
“That city’s manager says Federal Way has more important things to deal with and won’t push to give the 17-year old a proclamation.”
“Fanjayas” are launching an email protest in pursuit of the uncoventional local “holiday.”
Fans of Sanjaya plan to flood the inboxes of Federal Way two leading officials:

Deputy Mayor Jim Ferrell (right): jim.ferrell@cityoffederalway.com

But is it really that serious?
