Maybe Oprah is getting her own TV network (incidentally, called OWN), but Ellen DeGeneres reigns supreme among TV viewers.

In a Harris Poll released yesterday, Ellen DeGeneres topped Oprah Winfrey as favorite television personality. Last year, Ellen DeGeneres was sitting in the number eight spot, while Oprah has landed the number one spot for five years in a row.

Jay Leno placed third, while “House” star Hugh Laurie was fourth and Jon Stewart came in fifth.

According to the poll folks, “When the 10 stars on this list are looked at more closely, a theme emerges. Seven of them have a talk show — either late night, prime time or day time. Only one drama star, House’s Laurie, is on the list.”

Not to fret, David Letterman and Stephen Colbert fans – they tied for sixth place. Strangely enough, Bill O’Reilly was seventh. Hmm.

On the upside, Homer Simpson landed the ninth spot.
