Ed McMahon Dead at Age 86; Tonight Show Sidekick Death News

Sad news to report this morning – Ed McMahon, the legendary Johnny Carson sidekick on the Tonight Show, is dead at age 86.

The news has just broke this morning, but NBC was informed the Ed McMahon was dead by his agent. McMahon died at UCLA Medical Center; cause of death is not yet known.

Ed McMahon was said to have passed away peacefully at the Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center after midnight.

While McMahon is also well known for hosting “Star Search” and “TV’s Bloopers and Practical Jokes,” he is best remembered for his long run on The Tonight Show, playing sidekick to Carson from 1962 to 1992.
