A Boston woman is claiming that Oprah stole the show concept for “The Big Give” from her.

New York’s Daily News reports that Darlene Tracy, a mother of four ,came up with the idea for a reality show called “The Philanthropist” in February 2005 and sent her pitch idea to an exec producer at Oprah’s show. Allegedly, a show producer requested more info and Darlene Tracy submitted a business proposal on March 1, 2005. Ultimately, Harpo Productions decided to pass four months later.

In December 2006, Oprah announced that she was developing “Big Give.”

Darlene Tracy filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Boston to try and keep “Big Give” off the air. Of course, you can’t be the big O… Tracy has since filed an appeal.

it would be difficult to know whether Oprah is lying or not, as the disclaimer under contact submit form via the http://www.oprah.com states she and they can alter the dates and times of any submission, not only that but they can alter words, idea’s, etc.
One catch is under the law an agreement or contract which is “unconscionable”. Did Oprah steal the idea? Well its hard to tell since she has given herself supreme rights and the authority to either lie or change a story at whim. But with all of “her” billion dollar charity work and angel acclamations- you have to believe “her”, because thats what she wants people to do. I do remember reading Oprah doesn’t believe in “Luck”- so your not going to get “lucky” to get on her show or get paid for your story, unless you know your business, even then “good luck”….
Does anybody think her online agreement is intentional? Good luck…
