David Ogden Stiers admits he's gay
Actor David Ogden Stiers has come out – the M*A*S*H star admits he’s gay in a new interview. Meh. It doesn’t seem like the “coming out, yep I’m gay” news is really news anymore.

Anyway, veteran actor David Ogden Stiers was asked the question and gave his straight up answer.

GossipBoy.com asked: “You are gay. Right, David?” And David Ogden Stiers answered: “Yes, I am. Very proud to be so.”

Of course, that may make some wonder what took him so long to come out. Here’s the rundown from Ogden Stiers:

“There are two reasons really. One is that I enjoy working and even though many have this idealistic belief that the entertainment industry and studios like Walt Disney are gay friendly. For the most part they are, but that doesn’t mean for them that business does not come first. It’s a matter of economics.”

The other reason is that he’s looking for love:

“…I wish to spend my life’s twilight being just who I am. I could claim noble reasons as coming out in order to move gay rights forward, but I must admit it is for far more selfish reasons. Now is the time I wish to find someone and I do not desire to force any potential partner to live a life of extreme discretion with me.”

David Ogden Stiers has been in loads of TV shows and movies, but he’s probably best known for his role as Major Winchester on M*A*S*H. He’s also voiced Disney Movies like Lilo & Stitch and Beauty and the Beast.

i am really sorry to hear that david is gay, because while if he continues there is no way he will ever get to heaven, the bible says men with men and woman with woman desirve death

we should be friends with everyone God will deliver the punishment

It’s interesting how people who support gay rights claim that everyone is entitled to have their free expression until someone voices an opinion that is different from theirs…then it’s “go to hell”

I myself am for free speech. However it seems that a vast majority of individuals associated with organized religion have a lot to say but little to abide by. if you are religious that’s fine, but you are not the voice of the bible or a god so remember that. Is putting others down and decreeing hate christian? Faith is personal and private and about your connection to whichever god or affiliation you choose. What is wrong with Jim’s comment is that he is speaking for the bible and for a god. Jim is not a god, and Jim did not write the bible so what does Jim really know firsthand? It seems to me Jim, like many others is interpreting something to fit his needs. And although he ends is statement with we should all be friends etc. I can clearly say that writing what he did is in no means something a friend would do. Jim is also ignorant about the bible, or at least it seems anything other than the quote he posted which doesn’t exist in the bible. And when it comes to that book, there are actually more references to heterosexual evils than to homosexual ones.

Just live your life and let others live theirs. Keep your personal views on things like the afterlife to yourself. Because unless you have personal experience knowing for a fact their is a heaven or a hell you can’t espouse that. I know many straight people who live the bible (when it suits them anyway) and if there is an afterlife I would not want to see them in it. This life is hard enough for everyone so who would want an afterlife with people who hate. And off topic: I also think heterosexuals who say that marriage should only be between a man and a woman need to reassess their views because if marriage is so scared and should only be between a man and a woman then I say that heterosexuals should legally not be allowed to divorce, ever…

And to John: Not everyone who supports gay rights feels others who don’t should be silenced. What many do think though is that those who don’t are usually ignorant, say hurtful and hateful things, yet frequently call themselves christians. In my experience they are usually people with low IQ levels, latent homosexuals themselves, or just plain bullies. I have had many conversations with people who think and speak like Jim and I have honestly yet to have one conversation that was actually intelligent and realistic. It has usually been someone who keeps repeating the same two or three statements and then shrinks and cannot carry on a conversation when challenged. Their limited ability to think for themselves intelligently and logically combined with a lack of lack of reason due to some form of retardation, lack of education, or poor coping skills.

And lastly, why does Jim and people like him even care really? Does David Ogden Stiers and other gay men come on to you? Because if not then I am not sure why it would really matter to you? Because once again, no human is the voice of a god.

What do you think?
